Katapult Africa Opens Applications for Its Next Climate Tech Cohort to Scale Proven African Solutions

Katapult Africa has opened applications for its next accelerator cohort, with a clear goal to help climate tech startups that are already working in the real world grow faster and reach more people. The initiative focuses on businesses that have moved beyond ideas and pilots and are now ready to scale solutions that address Africa’s climate challenges while building strong, sustainable companies.

Across the continent, climate change is already affecting food systems, energy access, transport and natural resources. At the same time, African founders are responding with practical innovations that are tested, relevant and rooted in local realities. Katapult Africa’s new cohort is designed to support these entrepreneurs by providing the tools, networks and capital readiness needed to take their solutions to the next stage.

The accelerator is looking for post-MVP and post-pilot climate tech startups, ideally with early revenue and a clear path to growth. These are teams that deeply understand the problems they are solving, have validated demand in the market and are now focused on expansion. The program remains pan-African and welcomes applications from across the continent.

Katapult Africa continues to work across seven core domains that reflect key areas of climate action and economic opportunity. These include precision agriculture, waste management, clean energy, clean mobility, climate fintech, carbon monitoring and carbon reduction. Startups operating in these sectors are helping to reduce emissions, improve efficiency and build resilience in communities and industries that are most exposed to climate risk.

The initiative is also placing special emphasis on supporting female-led teams. Katapult Africa has expressed strong interest in hearing from women founders who are building grounded, impact-driven climate solutions for Africa’s future. By doing so, the program aims to contribute to more inclusive growth within the climate innovation ecosystem.

Why This Initiative Matters for Africa’s Climate and Economy

Africa is widely seen as one of the regions most affected by climate change. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, unpredictable rainfall and growing pressure on natural resources are already shaping economic outcomes across many countries. Yet the continent is also emerging as a center of innovation, driven by young, tech-savvy entrepreneurs who are building solutions tailored to local needs.

Katapult Africa believes that climate-smart technologies and sustainable agriculture will play a central role in driving long-term economic development across the continent. By accelerating startups in these areas, the program aims to unlock both environmental and economic benefits.

“Africa is home to some of the fastest-growing economies in the world. With a young, tech-savvy population and a growing need for climate resilience, the continent is positioned to lead in climate-smart technologies and sustainable solutions. These opportunities are key to addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges, from resource scarcity to the impacts of climate change, while fostering long-term, inclusive growth,” said Beniamino Bruno, Venture Partner at Katapult Africa.

This perspective shapes the structure of the accelerator. Rather than focusing only on innovation, the program is designed to help startups reach concrete milestones related to growth, investor readiness and impact management. The aim is to ensure that participating companies are not only solving important problems but are also prepared to attract investment and scale responsibly.

Inside the Katapult Africa Program

The Katapult Africa program runs over a three-month period and offers an intensive support framework for selected startups. Participants take part in structured workshops and learning sessions that focus on business growth, strategy and impact measurement. These sessions are complemented by access to a wide network of investors, industry experts and key stakeholders from across the climate and technology sectors.

This combination of practical learning and strong networks is intended to help founders refine their models, strengthen their teams and position their companies for expansion across multiple African markets. By the end of the program, startups are expected to be better equipped to scale their solutions and deepen their impact.

Applications for the next Katapult Africa cohort are now open. Founders building real, resilient and impact-driven climate tech businesses are encouraged to apply and take part in a program designed to help proven solutions grow across the continent.
