This year’s global list of the Most Inspirational Women in Web3 and AI has drawn attention to outstanding women from every part of the world and nine African women earned their place among them. Their achievements highlight the growing role Africa is playing in the development of decentralized technology and artificial intelligence and show how much positive change can happen when more women are part of the journey. Their recognition is more than a moment of celebration. It is a strong sign that African women are shaping the digital future in meaningful ways.

Unstoppable Women of Web3, the initiative behind this recognition, continues to focus on making the Web3 ecosystem more open and accessible for women everywhere. By creating educational opportunities, building networks and highlighting women who are leading in technology, the initiative is helping more people understand that digital innovation can only grow stronger when it includes everyone.

A Spotlight on African Leadership

From a diverse pool of nominees across the world, nine African women rose to the top. Each woman brings a different strength and focus, yet all of them contribute to building a more open and representative digital space.

The women recognized are:
Bernice Omiunu from Nigeria, Operations Lead at Women in Blockchain Africa.
Cheryl Owala from Kenya, Technical Lead at Web3wayAfrica.
Dr. Anino Emuwa, Founder of 100 Women Davos, with strong ties in both Europe and Africa.
Edith Kariuki, a key leader at Women in Blockchain Africa.
Hilda Mugasia, a Crypto and IP Lawyer at Thompsons Legal Alliance.
Rita Mkpado, VP of Community at Hive3.
Sarah Idahosa, Founder of Women in Defi.
Yaeunda Pou Williams, Founder and CEO of On Genius Room.
And Yvonne Kagondu, Founder of ICP Hub Kenya and Kenya Blockchain Ladies DAO.

These women are building communities, creating educational pathways, shaping policy and strengthening Africa’s Web3 ecosystem. Some work on grassroots training. Some design technical solutions. Others build companies that introduce new ideas into the market. Their recognition sends a clear message that African women are not waiting for permission to participate in the next era of digital transformation. They are already leading it.

Their inclusion in this global list also creates new visibility for African innovators. It shows young women across the continent that they can be part of the future of blockchain, AI and decentralized systems. It also encourages investors, partners and global communities to pay closer attention to what Africa is building.

Building Pathways for Equal Digital Access

Unstoppable Women of Web3 was founded in 2022 on International Women’s Day. Since then, the initiative has worked to ensure women have the knowledge, tools and networks they need to be part of the Web3 movement. The organization believes that emerging technologies should not be limited to a small group. Instead, they should be open and accessible to all.

The mission is built around three key goals.
The first goal is to make Web3 accessible for everyone by encouraging people from different backgrounds to learn and explore the space.
The second goal is action through education and networking events that bring new people into Web3 communities.
The third goal is early support by offering free domains, Web3 basics and in-person events that guide newcomers through their first steps.

For four years, the initiative has highlighted women leaders in blockchain, AI and decentralized technology. Each recognition cycle strengthens the movement and shows that progress is happening across multiple regions, including Africa. The nine African women on this year’s list show how far the continent has come in shaping the direction of global technology.

As Web3 and AI continue to grow, the need for diverse leadership becomes even more important.
