Africa’s tech entrepreneurs are set to benefit from a new wave of support as Flat6Labs, in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), launches a continent-wide series of startup bootcamps designed to accelerate innovation and scale tech-driven solutions.

The initiative, branded Flat6Labs Africa Bootcamps, aims to equip early-stage entrepreneurs with tailored training, mentorship and access to networks critical for scaling their businesses. Supported by IFC’s Startup Catalyst program, the bootcamps will be held in select African countries, with Ghana as the first stop. Applications and schedules will be available on Flat6Labs’ LinkedIn page.

“Supported by IFC Startup Catalyst, we will host startup bootcamps in select African countries, offering tailored training and mentorship to help entrepreneurs tackle pressing challenges with innovative tech solutions,” said Flat6Labs in a statement.

The IFC Startup Catalyst platform, launched in 2016, is focused on investing in accelerators and early-stage funds across emerging and frontier markets. It targets nascent venture ecosystems by providing relatively modest investments typically $4–6 million, alongside access to sector expertise, networks and mentorship through its Booster program.

Access to early-stage capital and knowledge remains a key bottleneck for Africa’s startup ecosystem. Despite producing some of the world’s most promising innovations from fintech and agritech to climate tech and health solutions, emerging startups often struggle to secure funding and professional guidance.

The partnership between Flat6Labs and IFC is more than a program; it’s a strategic ecosystem play.

“Through our hashtag#IFCStartupCatalyst program, we are joining forces with Flat6Labs to support the ‘Flat6Labs Africa Bootcamps, ‘ a series of startup bootcamps across select African countries that will provide local tech entrepreneurs with tailored training and mentorship to scale their innovative tech solutions,” IFC Venture Capital & Funds said in a statement.

Globally, early-stage venture ecosystems are increasingly recognized as drivers of economic growth and innovation. In Africa, the combined impact of a youthful population, mobile-first adoption and rising digital literacy is creating fertile ground for startups to leapfrog traditional industries. Initiatives like Flat6Labs Africa Bootcamps provide the scaffolding these ventures need to thrive, bridging gaps in capital, expertise, and market access.

For African entrepreneurs, these bootcamps represent a rare opportunity to connect with global investors, mentors and peers, translating local solutions into regionally and even globally scalable businesses. They also underscore the importance of structured support for startups in frontier markets where innovation often emerges under resource constraints but with outsized social and economic impact.

As Flat6Labs and IFC roll out their bootcamp program across the continent, African tech founders are poised to convert ambition into tangible impact, creating businesses that not only generate revenue but also address pressing societal challenges. In a region often defined by opportunity gaps, these bootcamps could be the launchpad for the next wave of African innovation.
